The Great State Of New York - No Right to Self Defense

Daniel Penny defended himself and others on a 'sh*Th0le' NYC subway.

What was this 'innocent' man saying to Mr. Penny? Neely shouted "I'm gonna' kill you" and that he was "ready to die" or go to jail for life. (Penny from NPR) NPR is one of the most liberal news agencies out there!

This proves beyond a reasonable doubt you, average Joe American Citizen, have absolutely no freakin' right to self defense at all in this 'sh*Th0le' of a once great state.

So - can I walk around all day saying "I'm gonna' klll you' all day without any consequences? Obviously yes, if a member of a sacred cow, 'protected' group.

But let anyone of us say anything disparaging about one of the 'protected' groups, and we are in the slammer and guilty of racist hate crimes for which our hands should be cut off, our eyes blinded, and cut off at the knees!

No thank you New York! No. Thank. You.

I wonder how the good folks in the great State of Texas would handle this, eh?

No Fear! No uncertainty! No doubt!

Fear Uncertainty Doubt

F.U.D. - fear, uncertainty, and doubt seem to be the coinage of mass media - radio, newspaper, television, and internet, and these medias are spending it freely! On any given news broadcast there is a report of disaster, pandemic, wars and rumors or wars. Jesus spoke about these in Matthew Chapter 24, and sadly, this is the human condition.

The Word also says in 2 Tim 1, verse 7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Imagine that! It is possible to have a spirit filled with power, love, and a sound mind!

How is that possible? What are the steps?

All things are possible with God - believe. Sounds too simple? A childlike faith is the requirement, trust in the Lord of the Universe.

Turn to the Word daily. Study daily. Ask daily in prayer. Receive in your heart and be open to guidance. This has been the gold standard since He walked this earth. It is not 'rocket science', though it does take work!

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The next time the 'media' wants to prey upon your mind, speak this truth against them.

City, Town and Country

The latest election and the resulting unsettling actions seem to me more about the direction in which the country as a whole is heading. The cities in our country, with their large populations dominate election results. This is disconcerting for those who live in rural areas. Cultures vary widely from urban to suburban to rural. If urban cultures dominate every aspect of life and law, how do rural individuals make their needs known and their voice heard?

Take gun control for instance - where we live (in Clarendon New York) police are 10 to 15 minutes away. What if there is a rabid animal? This has happened to me in the past. If we are live with urban culture in the rural areas, and urban predominance in the laws, how do these people protect themselves, their homes, their properties, their livestock? Do they resort to picks and shovels, bows and arrows, spears? With a rabid animal, a safe distance is the best distance.

My family lived in a very rural area when I was a young boy. My wife and I still do. The farmer next to us was exposed to rabies through milking his cows, and needed an extensive series of injections to prevent the disease. These shots were painful. One day my sister Carol and I were playing outside. I was about 12, and she was 8. She told me there was a dog coming down the road. (At that time Glidden Road was still a dirt road.) My dad was working in the back yard and I yelled for him. He came running and immediately told me to go get the shotgun while he scooped my sister out of the way. I ran inside and brought out the shotgun, which I had loaded on the way out to the side yard. He handed Carol to me, and then shot the fox which was about 60 feet away. It was dead. He handed me the shotgun and told me to go get a shovel while he stood watch. I set the shotgun by the house (bolt open and safety on - yes, my father did show me how to safely handle a firearm), and then brought him a shovel. We buried the fox in a field by the side of the road. The authorities at that time had no interest in testing rabid animals - much different attitude than now. If my sister and I had been bitten by that fox, we would have needed very painful and very expensive injections. There is no cure for rabies once infected with the disease.

This is only one issue which conflicts the discussion of the differences in urban, suburban, and rural culture. The survival basics, food, shelter, clothing, companionship, all remain the same; how these are obtained is often the difference, and peoples’ attitudes on how to obtain these vary greatly. For example, rural individuals and families more often than not will look to themselves for food, growing gardens, raising chickens or geese, hunting, and fishing. Families usually teach their children about pickling, fermenting, canning, or freezing all types of food. There are stores in the country, of course. In years past, we have survived blizzards with preserved food and kerosene heaters as the roads were often impassable for days on end. We could not walk down the street through the snow to the corner grocery.

Country folks interaction with the police are usually much different as well. All too often the police in the urban areas become hardened and jaded through their daily interactions with all too often hardened criminals. Most of us who live in the country have interactions where the officers ask for drivers license and registration - after all country roads are pretty wide open, and some of us have lead feet! People calling for the defunding of the police in urban areas could be doing themselves a disservice. There may be a better way of helping the police to overcome their exposure to these hardened criminal elements with regular counseling, shifting assignments and roles, community outreach with schools, parks, and recreation centers. This would help them, as well as the community, to see the bigger picture of community policing. The old saying of ‘stay away from trouble and it won’t follow you’ applies as well to the community at large.

New York State Budget

Hey guys! This blog has been been quiet for quite a while! Things are about to change!

So ... the latest news from the D&C in Rochester, NY has as one of its front page articles - Pressure Up to Tax Wealthy Further - as if taxes in New York are not high enough already.

And yet there seems to be plenty of money to build new stuff in Rochester, and in New York City.

As if the tax situation in New York is not bad enough - let's spend money we do not have for stuff we may not need, and maybe not everyone will use.

Guys - especially you Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature - here's an inside tip.

Stop spending money you don't have!

This is how the rest of us in New York do it - we don't spend money we don't have or expect SOMEONE ELSE to pay for.

And, by the way, why the heck can't we have $500 and $1000 dollar bills from the banks? We are not all criminals you know!! Are you afraid we are all hiding money so the tax man won't get his share?

Family of Man

Something from Genesis 10 caught my attention, and made me think. Genesis 10 describes the world after the end of the flood. There are not many people. Noah, Shem, Ham, Lapheth and their wives and children. I don't know why their wives are not named.

Genealogy was very important in ancient times. It still is. There is some innate desire in humanity to know where we come from. DNA analysis has become more popular, even with the associated danger of misuse of the data - which has already happened. People really want to know to whom they are related.

We can tell where we really came from, our origin. It is clearly explained in God's word. All humanity shares common ancestors. Whether we like it or not, we are all cousins, so many times removed.
When we say the family of man, God really means it; we are all family. It makes no sense for family to hurt each other in the name of country or religion, when God has made us all family.

How times have changed?!

Published in the Democrat and Chronicle in the "Inbox" section of the Opinion page:

The framers of the Constitution were brilliant men. That document, written well over two centuries ago, has shown great resiliency and foresight. But, I cannot wrap my head around the gun lobby’s belief that our Second Amendment rights were ever intended to include automatic weapons, bump-stocks, silencers and muzzle-flash concealers. Weapons of mass destruction like we saw on display in Vegas have absolutely no place or need in our society, except in the hand of law enforcement and military.
Times have changed. We, and our politicians, need to also.

This really bothered me, so I wrote this letter to the Editors of the Democrat and Chronicle.

Dear Sirs:

The letter to the editor stating "Weapons of mass destruction .... have no place or need ... except in the hands of law enforcement and military." made me shudder.

Really? Posse Comitatus should make it very clear we do not want weapons of mass destruction in the hands of law enforcement. The D&C reports daily on the the misconduct of law enforcement. Should we trust them with military grade weapons when so many have not served? I think not. All too often, automatic weapons in the hands of civilian authority have disappeared (https://www.rt.com/usa/183000-police-departments-lose-military-weaponry/ for example).

Seriously - I value my rights to possess a firearm guaranteed under the Second Amendment, upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States.

When all guns are illegal, only people with criminal intent will have firearms, and then God help us all. Note:  please review gun laws and statistics in Chicago. This is tragic every month.

Respectfully yours,

Equifax - the trustworthy credit bureau?

September 12, 2017, just a day after the 9/11 memorials across the country, hurricanes in the south lands, earthquakes in Mexico, and human misery abounding. So what comes skipping merrily across the news wire?

So, the oldest and one of the largest credit 'reporting' bureaus (Wikipedia about Equifax) experienced a hack.

A hack in some circles means code breaking a program, in others it may mean social engineering to gain a password.

NO WAY IN HECK DOES A HACK MEAN A MAJOR MELTDOWN INTRUSION INTO A NETWORK WHICH OCCURS FOR ALMOST 3 MONTHS, 'UNDISCOVERED' UNTIL ALMOST 5 MONTHS LATER WITH RECORDS ON 144 MILLION PEOPLE TAKEN!!!

We have legislation on gender equality and gender identification - to some these are big issues. Mystery of mysteries, in the 21st century, business is not taking security and intrusion seriously? Especially credit reporting bureaus?

IT Administrator hat goes on:  securing your networks means investing time and money (yes Equifax - M-O-N-E-Y - you have enough - net profit of $488 million in 2016) in hardening servers, group policies, managing web front and back ends, and hardening passwords (even if the staff DO NOT LIKE IT!). AND will anyone be held accountable?

Heck, these 'hackers' - seriously that should read THIEVES - could do us all a real favor by reversing all the credit ratings - those at the bottom go to the top, those at the top go to the bottom, and maybe there would be less worry and criticism of their affairs!
