Jurisprudence - the long view

Is it possible to have a person shoot up to 20 people in plain sight of a multitude of witnesses, murder 6 of them in cold blood, and for there to be any doubt about the person's guilt?

And then - the long view

1. 2 years to come to trial
2. 6 months to select an impartial jury (found in Timbuktu)
3. 1 year for the trial
4. 6 more months for the sentencing (keeping track?)
5. 15 more years for appeal, after appeal, after appeal
6. 1 more year to schedule the execution
7. 1 month to gather all the mourners for the candle light vigil (the death penalty is so cruel and unusual! Tell that to the families of those who were murdered, especially the parents of the 9 year old girl.)
8. 1 hour to do the deed.

So -
short view - 2 minutes to unload 30 rounds, wound 20, murder 6;
long view - 20 years, 1 month, 1 hour for justice to prevail.
