Mayan End of the World

December 21, 2012 - the end of the cycle; and there's been so much written about the 'end of the cycle' that one more voice would not do it any justice at all.

However ... one evening a long time ago on August 12, 3114 BC as a group of old time Mayans were sitting around the campfire snorting peyote (or whatever old time Mayans snort) one of them hatched a grand scheme, the ultimate prank of the ages.

(what follows is a rough translation from the Mayan)

"Guys, you see that rock over there."
"Yeah, that round one?"
"Yeah, that round one. Here's the thing - let's freak everyone out!"
"Yeah!! So how we doin' that?"
"I'm carvin' a calendar."
"No way dude! That won't freak anyone out."
"It will if it stops on December 21, 2012."
"But why not use a bigger rock? There's one over there."
"Naw - I'm using that one. Pass the peyote man."

The old Mayan passed into history, his world ending long before our time. And if we listen closely, we can still hear him chuckle. (Here's the center image on the calendar. Figure's doesn't it?)
